February 12, 2022 was Move-In Day for the Afghan family that UUCB adopted. More than eighty volunteers from our beloved community came together to furnish and stock an entire apartment for Rafi and Najeeba, two young parents (aged 29 and 33) and their six children – Marwa, Sona, Zuhra, Matiullah, Nasibullah, and Husna, aged one to twelve. Creating a cozy home for them – offering them a sense of security after such a long and arduous – and courageous – journey, was a wonderful way for us to put our values into practice and build community within and outside of our church walls.

And we have the opportunity to do it again! We hope to adopt another family this Spring!

Refugee families arrive with few or no resources for establishing households. They need everything! Your monetary donation will go directly to the family to help them pay the rent and ongoing expenses.

Thank you to all who have provided much needed household goods. If you’d like to help with moving and other last minute tasks please stop by the Social Justice table after church.

In times like these, when the need is so great, we cannot do everything, but we can do something.

Please join us.
